The Wythe County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Monday, November 6, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as practical in the Board of Supervisors Meeting Room, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA 24382. 

The public hearing is to hear public comment concerning Amendment No. 2 to Ordinance 2012-5 entitled, “Subdivision Ordinance of Wythe County, Virginia”.  A copy of the proposed amendment may be found AT THIS LINK or at the County Administration Offices, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA 24382.

The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is currently in the process of reviewing the proposed Comprehensive Plan as recommended by the Wythe County Planning Commission. The plan is designed to be a decision-making tool to help guide the growth and development of the county.  The plan is general, long range and comprehensive. The plan is based upon the data gathered about land use, population, housing, community services, transportation and the economy. The plan takes into consideration present and probable future needs and seeks to promote the health, safety, morals, order, convenience, prosperity and general welfare of the people in Wythe County. 

In an effort to determine the views of local citizens and gain valuable information prior to adopting the Wythe County Planning Commission’s recommended plan, the Board of Supervisors will be conducting a public hearing, in compliance with Section 15.2-2204 of the Code of Virginia, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Wythe County Administration Building, 340 South 6th Street, Wytheville, VA.

Separate sealed Bids for the APEX Center Parking Lot Improvements Phase 1 for the Wythe County Board of Supervisors, which consists of the construction of approximately 1,200 linear feet of paved roadway and parking area, concrete pads, parking lot lighting, earthwork, storm drain pipe, storm structures, erosion and sediment control, and associated items, will be received by Mr. Stephen Bear, County Administrator, at 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA, until 2:00 P.M., local prevailing time, on September 19, 2023, and then at said office publicly opened and read aloud. 

The Contract Documents may be examined at the Wythe County Board of Supervisors, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA; and online at TRASCO (http://www.trascoplanroom.com).               

Copies of the Contract Documents (electronic and/or hard copy) are available for purchase through TRASCO at http://www.trascoplanroom.com. 

Withdrawal of bids shall be according to procedure (i) of the Virginia Public Procurement Act and to the Code of Virginia (§ 2.2-4330). 

Bids must be accompanied by Bid security as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. 

Each Bidder must be licensed as a Class A contractor in the State of Virginia; Bidders are instructed to review the Code of Virginia, Title 54.1, Chapter 11, prior to bidding. 

The Owner does not discriminate against faith-based organizations in accordance with the Code of Virginia, § 2.2-4343.1. 

MBE/WBE firms are encouraged to submit Bids.  

The Contract(s) shall be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible Bidder(s).  

The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all Bids if it appears in its best interest to do so.

The County of Wythe, Va., requests proposals from interested and qualified firms for design, manufacture and installation of stadium seating for a 90,000-square foot indoor sports arena. The primary use is a hockey arena, but seating must provide flexibility to use the venue for concerts, expos and other sports. The venue has a concourse level and a lower level four feet below the concourse. An embedded ice rink is centered on the lower level.

A pre-proposal meeting will be held at the Apex Center Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 10 a.m. at 200 Apex Drive, Wytheville, VA 24382. Proposals are due by 2 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2023. Send three hard copies of proposal and an electronic copy on USB drive by courier to: Wythe County Board of Supervisors, Attn: Hankins/Arena Seating, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA 24382.
