24.2-530. No person shall vote for the candidates of more than one party.

AN ID IS REQUIRED TO VOTE

POLLS OPEN 6 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Monday, Feb 12, 2024:   Last day to register to vote or change your voter registration information for this election. 

Same Day Registration is now available however, it will be a provisional vote that will be counted after the election, if accepted. 

Mailed voter registration applications must be sent to the Wythe County Office of Elections postmarked on or before the deadline.

MAIL ABSENTEE VOTING AVAILABLE

Friday, Feb 23, 2024:  Last day to request an absentee ballot by mail. Applications must be received in the Wythe County Office of Elections Office by 5 p.m.

Tuesday, March 5, 2024:  Election Day ALL DROPPED OFF Absentee voted ballots must be returned to the Wythe County Office of Elections by 7 p.m. (Virginia time) to be counted. 

Friday, March 8, 2024:  ALL MAILED Absentee voted ballots must be postmarked on or before election day and returned to the Wythe County Office of Elections by NOON. (Virginia time) to be counted.

In-Person Absentee Voting begins January 19th, 2024

We uphold the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of Virginia and the laws, policies and court decisions of federal, state and local jurisdictions.

It is our sacred honor to protect and promote public trust and confidence by conducting accurate and fair elections.

As the public’s guardians of freedom within a democratic society, we are responsible for the integrity of the process. The General Registrar is accountable for maintaining public confidence in honest and impartial elections which we conduct in a fair, efficient and accurate manner.

Nurturing and protecting Democracy is a team effort in the profession of elections administration. Our tasks require wisdom, courage and the desire to remain focused on our vision of free and impartial elections despite changes in our society and its laws.

Freedom can best be maintained and nurtured through the democratic process.

The success of the democratic process requires fair and open elections which accurately reflect the intent of the electorate. Therefore, the Voter Registrar serves as the Gatekeeper of Democracy.

By our dedication to uphold these ideals, we demonstrate our loyalty to freedom, our pride in our profession and a commitment to the excellence of the democratic process.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the General Registrar's Office is to provide opportunities, in an equitable and courteous manner, for all qualified citizens of Wythe County to register to vote; to promote the integrity of the electoral process by maintaining accurate and current voter registration records used in elections; to coordinate elections so that they are conducted in a manner that secures the qualified citizen's right to vote and insures that the results accurately reflect the voters' will; and, to be an information resource for citizens regarding voter registration, elections, and elected officials.
