In compliance with the Code of Virginia and amendments thereto, the Wythe County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing to consider Ordinance 2017-2 entitled, “Wythe County Noise Ordinance.”  The Board of Supervisors will hear comments from citizens concerning the proposed ordinance. 

The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 7:05 p.m. in the Board Room of the Wythe County Office Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, Virginia.

Hay Removal Outline

Wythe County Board of Supervisors is accepting bid proposals for the removal of hay on three different sites. All bid proposals should be in a sealed envelope marked HAY REMOVAL and to the attention of Martha Collins, 340 South 6th Street, Wytheville, VA 24382. Proposals should be submitted by 2:00 on June 30, 2017.

County expectations for the agreement should contain at least the following:

  • Any area that hay is not made will be bush hogged.
  • A general liability insurance policy naming the county and a hold harmless agreement signed
  • Damage to any structure or surface will be repaired within 30 days of notice.
  • Proposed monetary payout to the county of a flat rate for each site per year
  • Land applicants are being applied to Lot 24. Coordination with the land applicator will be required. Any additional applicant will need approval from the County.
  • Wythe County reserves the right to withdrawal from some or all of the agreement with 15 days written notice.

Each area will be considered independent of the other areas and awards will be made as such. The length of contracts will be for the 2017 and 2018 calendar years.

Area 1 also known as Lot 24:

Notice is given that the Board of Supervisors of Wythe County, Virginia (the “Board”), will hold a public hearing on the proposed issuance of bonds at one time or from time to time by Wythe County. The estimated maximum aggregate amount of the bonds is $1,252,000. The general purposes for which the bonds are to be issued, and the proposed uses of the proceeds of such bonds, are (a) to finance the cost of a new water storage tank, for which use more than 10 percent of the total bond proceeds are expected to be used, and (b) to pay the costs of issuing the bonds. The public hearing, which may be continued or adjourned, and at which persons may appear and present their views on the proposed bond issue, will be held at 7:05 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, on July 11, 2017, before the Board in the Board Room of the County Administration Building, located at 340 South Sixth Street in Wytheville, Virginia.

The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 7:10 p.m. in the Board Room of the Wythe County Office Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, Virginia.

The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is requesting sealed bids for a qualified construction management company to oversee building construction and site improvements of the Appalachian Regional Exposition Center (APEX). The APEX arena building is a 90,000 square foot metal building located on a 41 acre site southeast of I81/I77 Exit 77. Successful company will be identified as the Construction Manager for the Wythe County Board of Supervisors. Construction Manager shall be responsible for coordinating bidding of building (in whole or by separate trades) and appurtenances, reviewing and approving submittals, ordering owner-provided materials, coordinating work flow between various trades, scheduling required testing, recommending change orders, and other tasks necessary to confirm building is constructed to design standards on behalf of and at the direction of the Wythe County Board of Supervisors. The site has been rough graded. Plans and specifications can be reviewed at the Wythe County Administration Office.

Qualified firms are requested to submit package including qualifications, five (5) references of recent work, and price proposal. Packages shall be remitted to Wythe County Administration Office, Attn: Martha Collins, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA 24382.
