November 8, 2022 - Polls open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

ACCEPTABLE FORM OF IDENTIFICATION OR AN ID CONFIRMATION STATEMENT IS REQUIRED!

Absentee and In-Person Early Voting begins September 23, 2022. In-Person Early Voting will be held in the Old Courthouse Building from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Deadline to register to vote, or update existing registration, is Tuesday, October 17, 2022.

Deadline to request a ballot be mailed to you is Friday, October 28, 2022. Applications must be received in the Registrar's office by 4:30 p.m.

In addition to our regular office hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., the Registrar's office (245 South 4th Street, Wytheville, VA) will be open the following Saturdays for absentee voting in-person:

  • Saturday, October 29, 2022, 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Saturday, November 5, 2022, 8:30am - 4:30pm (Last day to vote an In-Person absentee ballot at the Registrar's Office)

Absentee ballots ARE counted!

BALLOT DROPBOXES will be available at the same dates and times in the Registrar's Office, and at the regular polling places on Election Day.

ELECTION DAY - Tuesday, November 8, 2022 - ALL absentee voted ballots must be returned to the Registrar's Office by 7:00 p.m. (Virginia Time) to be counted.

We uphold the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of Virginia and the laws, policies and court decisions of federal, state and local jurisdictions.

It is our sacred honor to protect and promote public trust and confidence by conducting accurate and fair elections.

As the public’s guardians of freedom within a democratic society, we are responsible for the integrity of the process. The General Registrar is accountable for maintaining public confidence in honest and impartial elections which we conduct in a fair, efficient and accurate manner.

Nurturing and protecting Democracy is a team effort in the profession of elections administration. Our tasks require wisdom, courage and the desire to remain focused on our vision of free and impartial elections despite changes in our society and its laws.

Freedom can best be maintained and nurtured through the democratic process.

The success of the democratic process requires fair and open elections which accurately reflect the intent of the electorate. Therefore, the Voter Registrar serves as the Gatekeeper of Democracy.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the General Registrar's Office is to provide opportunities, in an equitable and courteous manner, for all qualified citizens of Wythe County to register to vote; to promote the integrity of the electoral process by maintaining accurate and current voter registration records used in elections; to coordinate elections so that they are conducted in a manner that secures the qualified citizen's right to vote and insures that the results accurately reflect the voters' will; and, to be an information resource for citizens regarding voter registration, elections, and elected officials.
