The Wythe County Clerk of Circuit Court is accepting applications for a Deputy Clerk position. Deputy Clerk's are responsible for processing legal documents; assisting public with technical and recording matters; processing and issuing marriage licenses, passports, Notary commissions; administering oaths; recording and indexing real estate transactions; preparing legal papers; courtroom support; setting up criminal and civil court files; preparing cases for appeal; data entry into Case Management Systems; setting up payment agreements; collecting and receipting fees collected by Court.

The minimum requirements are a high school diploma or equivalency. Preferred applicants will possess an Associate's Degree in business, legal assisting or other related field or a combination of education and experience equivalent to such; have excellent verbal and written communications skills, experience in cashiering and accounting; general working knowledge of the terminology and procedures of the legal and Court system; understand generally accepted business office methods; be proficient in Windows operating systems including Word, Excel, Access; be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Court officials, associates and general public; and to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Applicants selected for position must submit to criminal history check and negative drug screen.
