WYTHE COUNTY PARKS & RECREATION DIXIE YOUTH AAA & MAJORS 2011 RULES & REGULATIONS
- Dixie Youth Baseball Rules will be used with the following exceptions/clarifications for regular season play ONLY.
- Games may begin or continue with eight (8) players.
- If a player arrives late he/she may be inserted immediately into the game but will be placed in the last position in the batting order.
- Anytime you play with less than nine players, there will be an out recorded each time the player in that position would have batted. If a team falls below eight (8) players, the game shall be declared a forfeit.
- Single games will be six (6) innings or one hour and forty-five minute time limit. Double header games will be four (4) innings each with a one hour and fifteen minute time limit for each game. If the home team is ahead when at bat and the time limit is reached, the game will end.
- If there are two (2) outs and the catcher is on base, the catcher will be replaced by a courtesy runner and will return to the dugout to put on the catching equipment. The courtesy runner will be a player not currently in the game or, if no substitutes are available, it will be the player who made the last out.
- Any coach ejected from a game will be suspended for the next game and all practices leading up to that game. Any coach ejected from a second game will be suspended for the remainder of the season and all tournament competition.
- All players must bat at least one (1) time and play in the field for six (6) consecutive outs of a six (6) inning game or bat twice (2) and play in the field for six (6) consecutive outs in a double header. Any player who does not play in the first game of a double header must start in the second game.
- Batter, on-deck batter, base runners, players in coach’s box and bat boys/girls must wear helmets at all times. Helmets must have a chin strap and face guard. All catchers must wear a protective cup.
- Anyone warming-up a pitcher must wear protective head and face gear.
- At the start of the game, all players will be listed in the starting offensive batting lineup and bat in this order until all have completed one turn at bat. The batting lineup will then revert to the first nine players listed in the original batting order.
