DIXIE BOYS/MAJORS BASEBALL RULES


1.  Bats

A.  Boys – No weight to length restriction.
B.  Majors – May not weigh more than 3 ounces less than the length of the bat.

2.  Batting Helmets

A.  Boys – Either pressure type or chin straps.  Must have face mask.
B.  Majors – Either pressure type or chin straps.  No face mask required.

3.  Catcher’s Mask – Must have a throat protector manufactured on the mask or a hard plastic throat protector attached.  Hockey style masks meet the requirement for the manufactured throat protector.

4.  Designated Hitter

A.  May be used for any one player in the line-up and any sub for that player.
B.  Must be named on the line-up card presented to the official scorer.
C.  Cannot be added later in the game.
D.  Cannot be a starting defensive player.
E.  If a pinch hitter or pinch runner is used for the DH they become the DH.
F.  If a DH assumes a defensive position, the DH role is terminated.
G. If the defensive player the DH is batting for, bats, pinch-hits or pinch-runs for the DH, the DH role is terminated.

5.  Any player that is NOT currently in the line-up may be used as a courtesy runner for the pitcher or catcher at any time.

6.  Starters may be replaced and re-enter the game one time.  Substitutes may not re-enter the game once they have been removed.

7.  Pitcher

A.  Boys – May not pitch more than 95 pitches in same game or on the same day.

B.  Majors – May not pitch more than 105 pitches in same game or the same day.

C.  A pitcher who throws more than 45 pitches but less than 76 pitches in the same game must have a minimum of thirty (30) hours rest before pitching again.

D.  A pitcher who throw more than 75 pitches in a game must have forty (40) hours rest before pitching again.

E.  A pitcher may pitch in two games on the same day provided they pitch less than 46 pitches in the first game and does not throw more than allowed for the day as defined in A & B above.
