The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for part-time Telecommunicator for the Emergency Communications Center.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Field emergency and non-emergency calls for service from the public for police, fire, rescue, and other emergency services. To dispatch police, fire, rescue, and other emergency services personnel by radio, radio paging or phone. Entry and inquiry into VCIN/NCIC/DMV records via data terminal. Operate modem and fast –paced computer-aided dispatch utilizing DOS and Windows based operating systems. Carry out assigned miscellaneous tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or two years experience preferred. Must possess good keyboarding skills, ability to obtain VCIN/NCIC and state Telecommunicator certification, ability to communicate professionally and efficiently via telephone and radio, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under stressful emergency situations. May be required to pass a hearing test. Must be willing to work any shift with no exceptions. Shifts may be 4 hours to 12 hours in duration. Drug screen and extensive background check required.
