The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for part-time Dispatchers for the new Emergency Operations Center.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Field calls for service from the public for police, fire and rescue. Dispatch police, fire and rescue personnel by radio/radio paging. Entry and inquiry into VCIN/NCIC/DMV records via data terminal. Operate modem and fast-paced computer-aided dispatch utilizing DOS and Windows based operating systems. Carry out miscellaneous assigned tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or two-years experience preferred. Must possess good keyboarding skills, ability to obtain VCIN/NCIC certification, ability to communicate professionally and efficiently via telephone and radio, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. May be required to pass a hearing test.

The Wythe County Board of Supervisors’ is accepting job applications for a part-time maintenance position for the Building and Grounds Department.

Duties will include building and grounds maintenance for the County-owned buildings and properties. The salary range for this position will be based on experience.

Applicants need to have knowledge of building maintenance procedures, methods, materials and equipment; experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, heating or air conditioning preferred. Applicants must be dependable and able to perform physical labor.

The Wythe County Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for seasonal (April - September), part-time employment.  Positions available:  Umpires, Lifeguards, Camp Store Attendants and Campground/Athletic Fields Maintenance.

Candidates must possess a positive, friendly demeanor, work well with the general public and be willing to work weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed. Employees should be able to lift 50 lbs. or less without assistance and must have transportation to and from job site. Umpires must have certifications that are required by the sanctioning affiliation our youth leagues are franchised through. Lifeguards must be CPR/First Aid Certified and should be able to provide their certification card numbers before employment starts. Maintenance workers should have basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, small engine and lawn upkeep. Employees will answer to the Rural Retreat Lake Manager and should implement a clear line of communication.
