The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications from qualified candidates for a full-time Emergency Services Director/Coordinator position. DEPUTY TREASURER I PDF Print E-mail

The Wythe County Treasurer is seeking qualified applicants for the full time position of Deputy Treasurer I.  Applicant should have knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment, accounting and money handling practices and procedures; must possess excellent computer skills, problem solving skills, communication skills - verbal and written, the ability to work well with the public and coworkers, perform duties in a fast-paced environment, handle stressful situations, ability to multi-task, handle frequent interruptions and work independently without direct supervision. 

Duties include but are not limited to accepting and processing various state and local payments; assisting the public and resolving concerns; assisting attorneys, closing agencies and mortgage companies conducting tax searches; issuing animal licenses; maintaining various office records and preparing office documents for distribution.  College degree or equivalent work related experience preferred.  SALARY: $22,250 (non-negotiable). Employment benefits include health insurance, retirement, annual and sick leave, and paid holidays.  Related employment tests may be administered during employment interview.  Upon acceptance of position, individual must submit to and pass a criminal background investigation and an acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles driving record.

Rural Retreat Lake Job Opportunities PDF Print E-mail

The Wythe County Parks and Recreation is now accepting employment applications for Campground Manager and Pool Manager at Rural Retreat Lake. These are seasonal employee positions that will work May through September up to 40 hours per week but not exceeding 1500 hours during this seasonal period. 

Campground Manager will be responsible for supervising and scheduling employees, camp reservations, manage the camp store, daily store and campground maintenance, and other duties deemed necessary. 

The Pool manager will be responsible for supervising and scheduling lifeguards, pool party scheduling, daily maintenance of the pool, pool water chemistry, building facility, and other duties deemed necessary. Lifeguard certification highly suggested. Experience with pool maintenance is also recommended. 

All Candidates must possess a positive friendly demeanor, work well with the public, and be willing to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed. Employees should be able to lift 50 lbs or less without assistance and must have reliable transportation to and from job site. 

Lifeguard and Campground Clerk/Maintenance positions are also available. These are part-time seasonal positions with up to 28 hours per week. 

All Lifeguards must be Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid Certified and be able to provide proof of certification before employment. 

Campground Clerks/Maintenance are responsible for managing the camp store, daily maintenance of the store/campground, camp sites and other duties deemed necessary.

Law Enforcement Officer PDF Print E-mail

One full-time Law Enforcement position 

Salary $31,009.00 plus benefits 

Duties shall consist of, but are not limited to, general police responsibilities necessary to the safety and good order of the community.  Will also be responsible for identifying criminal offenders and criminal activity. Also when and where appropriate, apprehend offenders and participate in subsequent court proceedings.  Will be responsible for reducing the opportunities for the commission of crime through preventative patrol and other measures, facilitate the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic and provide other emergency services as needed. 

  • A current certification in Law Enforcement from the Department of Criminal Justice Services preferred.
  • Must be able to successfully perform department physical assessment.
  • Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation and drug screening.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have valid Virginia Operators License.
