The Sheriff’s Department has on staff an International Credentialed Chaplain. Chaplain Jim Cox is a 19 year veteran as a Law Enforcement Chaplain. He holds “Diplomate” Credentials, the second highest credentials issued by the International Conference of Police Chaplains. Chaplain Cox provides a source of confidential counseling for the Department’s personnel. In addition to counseling, Chaplain Cox makes death notifications, meets with survivors in death situations, meets with victims of crime, serves as liaison with the local Ministerial Alliance, takes speaking appointments, is available to other agencies in emergencies and also serves as a Sworn Reserve Deputy.
