Unseasonably warm weather on Dec. 3, 2011 yielded a remarkably large turn out of over 500 people at the Max Meadows Christmas Parade. Winners of the float and vehicle contests included one of the season’s most beloved cartoon cast reminding residents that the spirit of the holiday season is what’s really important.
The story of Charlie Brown, the school play and a lonely little pine tree has been shown for generations during the holiday season. Taking the church float prize was Max Meadows Church of God of Prophecy with Charlie, Patty, Snoopy and the whole gang.
First place for the commercial floats was Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre. Its float featured some beloved holiday characters including the nutcracker solider, a gingerbread couple and some of Santa’s helpers.
Max Meadow Ruritian Club swept the civic float contest by showcasing the holidays with a float full of presents, Christmas trees and a feeling of community.
Classic cars are always a draw for spectators at holiday parades. This year, Jimbo Taylor and his Corvette Stingray took first place with the cars unique design and meticulous maintenance. |
