Wythe County Board of Supervisors is pleased to welcome Jenna Coleman as its first Public Information Officer and Grant Coordinator as of Oct. 17, 2011. While filling this position, Coleman will serve Wythe County through raising awareness of local news and events in addition to obtaining grant funding for local needs.
“I hope to create a bridge between the governing body in Wythe County and its residents where information can flow freely and be communicated easily,” said Coleman. “I also hope to find new means of funding for the countless improvements, changes and day-to-day functions throughout the county.”
Cellell Dalton, Wythe County Administrator, and the Wythe County Board of Supervisors narrowed the search from 50 plus candidates down to just one. Dalton feels the addition of this position will be a great benefit to the citizens of the county.
“This addition will allow the citizens of Wythe County the opportunity stay abreast of County Government business with daily and weekly releases to the local media, postings to social media sites, and the Wythe County website,” said Dalton. “We look forward to Jenna providing the expertise to making Wythe County government as transparent as possible by the use of all media outlets.”
Coleman, originally from Honaker, Va., received her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech. She has worked as a public relationship representative for medical and media companies throughout southwest Virginia. In addition, Coleman has held positions as a journalist at area media outlets including Pulaski County’s “The Southwest Times.” |
