About the Department

The Wythe County Department of Emergency Management provides preplanning, preparation, mitigation, response and recovery for natural and man-made disasters and major emergencies. This includes provisions for law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical response, specialty rescue, emergency communications, enhanced 9-1-1 and hazardous material responses for the Town of Wytheville, Town of Rural Retreat and rural Wythe County.

Wythe County local emergency management is comprised of a director, who is the chairman of the Wythe County Board of Supervisors, a deputy director, who is the County Administrator, and a Emergency Mangager/911 Coordinator/Haz-Mat Coordinator.
