Duties of the Code Official |

- Enforces the provisions of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code as it pertains to new construction.
- Receives applications and issues permits for new construction after reviewing building plans, building lots, and site conditions for compliance with the Building Code and all state and local ordinances.
- Issues all necessary notices or orders to insure compliance with the building code.
- Makes or causes to be made all required inspections.
- Documents all inspections in writing for future reference.
- Keeps official records of applications, permits, certifications issued, fees collected, inspection reports, and notices of orders issued.
- Submits to the Wythe County Board of Supervisors monthly and annual written reports containing pertinent information of those permits issued for the prescribed period.
