On the morning of July 11, crews were dispatched for a motor vehicle rollover on Interstate 77 at the 41 mile marker. This vehicle was carrying a paint additive that is not classified as a Federal DOT regulation hazardous material.

The product moved into a drainage ditch and along a creek in the Chapman Road area of Wytheville. Crews have been working since 3 a.m. and continue to work to contain and clean up the product.

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality is on scene as well as a state hazardous material officer. Clean up crews will continue to work to clean these areas.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter. If you have any questions, please contact Curtis Crawford at 276-223-4521.
