Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors is the main governing body in Wythe County. The Board members are elected by the citizens of the county and serve 4 year terms. The powers and duties of the Board of Supervisors include:

preparing the county budget
setting the county tax rates
appointing members of various boards and committees
constructing and maintaining county buildings
adopting the county's comprehensive plan
adopting and enforcing ordinances for police, sanitation, health, and other regulations permitted by state laws

The board generally meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Please see the Public Documents page to see the agenda for the next Board Meeting.

Board appointed committees meeting schedule for 2010. These meetings are held in the Conference Room of the County Administration Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville and are open to the public:

Building and Grounds Committee - First Tuesday of each month, 3:00 p.m.
Industrial Site Committee - Thursdays following the first Tuesday of each month, 8:00 a.m.
Water Committee - Third Tuesday of each month, 9:30 a.m.
Budget Committee - Thursdays following the third Tuesday of each month, 3:00 p.m.
