VIRGINIA RETIREMENT SYSTEM

Employees are covered under the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). A group life insurance policy is also provided to full-time permanent employees through VRS. The cost of group life insurance may be shared by the employee, the County, at the direction of the Board of Supervisors. The current rate is 1.34% (County portion is .54% and Employee portion is .80%). Employees may purchase additional life insurance coverage for the employee, spouse and children at the employees expense.
